What we’ve been up to February – May 2025

It’s been a busy few months here at Good Websites! From launching new websites to making clever behind-the-scenes tweaks, here’s a round-up of what we’ve been working on from February to May this year.

Keeping WordPress websites safe, fast and up-to-date

All websites on our WordPress Maintenance Plan have been updated to WordPress 6.8, the latest version.

This update brings smoother, faster, and more secure site management.

  • Faster page loads with speculative loading
  • Better password protection thanks to bcrypt hashing
  • Improved performance from database upgrades
  • A cleaner layout in the Style Book for Classic themes

It’s all part of our WordPress Maintenance Plan, making sure our clients’ websites run smoothly, stay secure, and keep up with best practices, with no effort needed on their end.

A big hello

We’re pleased to welcome some great new businesses to the Good Websites family: Bay Costume Hire, Autosteam and Raiesit.

Websites we’ve launched

Mosh Social Media

This was a complete website redesign. After managing their website for the past few years, it was time for a full rebuild — fresh structure, modern design, and updated tech behind the scenes. The new site includes sleek animations to reflect the energy and creativity of their industry. Mosh is one of New Zealand’s leading social media agencies, running campaigns for brands like Hell Pizza, McDonald’s, and JB Hi-Fi. mosh.co.nz

Tauranga Landscaping

Again, this one’s a full website redesign — we moved them away from the clunky, hard-to-use Ark page builder and rebuilt the website using the native WordPress Gutenberg block editor. Combined with our custom backend coding, it’s now super easy for them to manage their content. The new website lists its landscaping services with photo galleries to show off the work around the Bay of Plenty. taurangalandscaping.nz

Autosteam

Autosteam came to us after their old website was hacked — and their previous web design agency couldn’t fix it. Time for something new! We built them a fast, secure one-page website — hardcoded and unhackable. It features a video hero at the top, plus plenty of photo galleries showing off their impressive car clean. These guys aren’t just cleaning cars—it’s almost a full-on restoration autosteam.co.nz

Built for small businesses, our one-page websites are fast, easy to use, and super affordable.

Bay Costume Hire – A fresh new look

We usually don’t take over websites we didn’t build ourselves, but we made an exception for this long-time client. We recently upgraded the Bay Costume Hire website with minimal costs. This upgrade gives the site a fresh look, improves performance, and boosts SEO. Their website runs smoothly, loads faster, and looks better than ever.

Sneak Peeks

We have some exciting web design projects in the pipeline.

Something fresh is coming for Pure Images! We’re redesigning their website with a modern new look reflecting their warm, natural photography style. I can’t wait to share it soon.

Website Tweaks & Enhancements

Small changes that make a big difference.

Scott Tours – Improved performance

We’ve upgraded the codebase to the latest Bootstrap version, boosted performance, and fine-tuned design details. This site’s now running smoother than ever. A website isn’t a one-time project; it’s an evolving marketing tool that should grow alongside your brand.

Pure Images – Capture signatures with ease!

Say goodbye to paperwork! We’ve installed the Gravity Forms Signature Add-On, so clients can now sign forms on their devices without printing.

  • Works on touchscreen devices, touchpads, or a mouse
  • No browser plugin needed—compatible with all major browsers
  • Securely stores signatures as PNG files

Tauranga Taxis – Boosting ride volumes

We’ve added a custom page just for the YourRide app, making it easier than ever for customers to book a ride. This dedicated page means more visibility, more bookings, and more rides on the road!

Evolve Vehicle Centre – Google Review section

Their 5-star Google Reviews now display right on the homepage. Adding social proof and building trust at a glance.

Denise Fitzpatrick – Keeping things fresh

We just updated the website to feature her latest book covers! Keeping your website current is important. Whether it’s new products, services, or a refreshed design, regular updates help maintain a strong and professional brand image.

MSPS painting – Water blast service section

We added a new Water Blast service section to their one-page site. Keeping your services current ensures that your customers know exactly what you offer.

Transmission & Component Rebuilding Center – Refining the message

Sometimes, it’s just as important to communicate what you don’t do as it is to highlight what you do. We’ve been fine-tuning Transmission Rebuilt’s website, making sure its services are crystal clear so visitors know exactly what to expect.

Fraser Clinic – Optimising Page Titles & Meta Descriptions

We fine-tuned the page titles and meta descriptions across the website. These little SEO tweaks can make a big difference to search performance.

Coast Palms & Cycads – Autumn vibes incoming!

We’re exploring some warm, seasonal colour updates to match the homepage slider. We’re using rich amber, soft rust tones, and a bit of evergreen to bring it all together.

Watershed – Client logo block

We added a dynamic client logo block — 12 logos show at a time, randomly selected from a bigger pool. It’s fresh on every visit and super easy for the team to manage in WordPress.

Better spam protection

We’ve rolled out a small but helpful tweak to some of our clients’ websites. We’ve removed the reCAPTCHA (that “I’m not a robot” checkbox) from the contact forms.

Here’s why this is a good thing:

  • It’s quicker and easier for real people to get in touch
  • Fewer hurdles = more enquiries
  • The reCAPTCHA challenge was starting to become more annoying than helpful

No worries about spam—our WordPress Gravity Forms now have improved filtering in place, so everything’s still protected.
