After updating to WordPress 7, it may seem like your Meta Boxes are gone.

But don’t worry, they’re still there.

WordPress 7 has a new admin interface, and now Meta Boxes are collapsed by default. If you’re used to seeing your SEO settings, custom fields, or other Meta Boxes open, it might look like they’re missing.

There’s an easy fix.

How to show the Meta Boxes again

First, scroll down to the bottom of the editor.

You’ll see a thin Meta Boxes bar right below the content editor.

Move your mouse over the resize handle until the cursor changes. Then click and drag it upwards to make the Meta Boxes area taller.

Another option is to click the Meta Boxes bar, or the arrow next to it, to expand the panel.

Your Meta Boxes, such as Yoast SEO, Advanced Custom Fields (ACF), and any custom fields, should now appear again.

WordPress will remember the position and height you set, so the next time you log in, your Meta Boxes should stay open where you left them.

If the Meta Boxes take up most of the editing screen, simply drag the resize handle or move the panel back to where you want it. This will return the layout to normal.

Why did this change?

WordPress 7 introduces a cleaner, more modern admin interface. By collapsing the Meta Boxes by default, there’s more space for editing and less visual clutter.

It might take a little getting used to, but once you’ve adjusted the panel to the size you like, you shouldn’t need to do it again.
